What is live hash rosin and why is it becoming popular

Live hash rosin is an increasingly popular cannabis concentrate that has been gaining popularity since its introduction to the market. This live rosin cannabis concentrate is made from live flower and uses heat, pressure, and screens to filter rosin glands in order to produce a pure and potent concentrate.

Potency and Flavor

Live hash rosin is becoming popular for a variety of reasons that range from its potency and flavor to its various methods of consumption. Live Hash Rosin is much more potent than regular flower, with THC concentration levels ranging from 75 to 80%. The live hash rosin experience can be incredibly flavorful due to the live resin process which preserves the unique

High Terpene Content

Additionally, live hash rosin is known for its high terpene content. Terpenes are the molecules found in cannabis that give it flavor and aroma as well as therapeutic effects. The live resin process preserves these terpenes which can further enhance the live rosin experience.

Bubble Hash vs Frozen Flower Rosin Press

High quality cannabis bubble hash

Bubble hash, aka ice water hash, is a type of marijuana concentrate made by agitating marijuana flowers in ice cold water and then filtering the material through micron bags. The material you are left with is pure trichomes. You can smoke bubble hash, but you can also further refine the final product by pressing in with a rosin press. We're going to go over this extraction process in more detail below.

Flower rosin is a cannabis concentrate made by taking freshly harvested marijuana flower and squeezing it between two heated plates to extract the live rosin from the fresh bud.

How live hash rosin is made

Live hash rosin's production process is what sets it apart from other cannabis concentrates. How live hash rosin is made is key to understanding its appeal and why it has become so popular. To create live hash rosin, live flower.

What is Live Cannabis Flower?

Live hash rosin is made from fresh frozen cannabis flower. The cannabis buds must be frozen within minutes of harvest. This process is necessary in order to preserve the unique aromatic compounds and terpene profile that live rosin is known for. By freezing live flower as soon as it is harvested, live hash rosin producers are able to create a concentrate with a unique and delicious flavor profile.

Pressure, Heat, and Screening Process - Rosin Pressing

Once fresh buds are harvested, it is pressed with a high pressure press with heated plates in order to extract the rosin glands. The live rosin producers use special rosin bags to filter out any unwanted plant material. The filter bags vary in size from 37 microns up to 160 microns.

What you need to press Solventless Live Rosin

You'll need the following items to process your cannabis plant into rosin:

  • High pressure press (10 ton)

  • Highest quality fresh cannabis

  • Parchment paper (unbleached)

  • Heated Rosin press plates

  • Scale to measure yield and weigh buds

  • Rosin press filter bags

  • Timer

The Flower Pressing Process

Once you have the materials above then you're ready to begin making live rosin.

Watch this video to see the process:

Step 1 - Warm up your rosin press plates. For a flower extraction, we use a temperature of 200 - 220 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2 - Weigh your cannabis. Most filter bags can only fit 7 grams of bud so keep this in mind when weighing out your plant material.

Step 3 - Load your live cannabis into the filter screen. There are different techniques for doing this, such as using a prepress mold or the Bottle Tech method. Do your research to find the method that works best for you.

Note: We recommend 120 or 160 micron bags for flower extractions.

Nylon filter bag

Step 4 - Line your press plates with parchment paper. You need to line the plates because the buds and trichome heads will stick to the metal plates making a huge sticky mess.

Step 5 - Insert your filter bundle in between the preheated press plates.

Step 6 - Prepress. Begin applying pressure. Only press until the bundle starts to compress. Once this happens, stop pressing and let some heat soak into the bundle (about 30 seconds).

Step 7 - Gradually apply more pressure over the next 130 seconds (1.5 minutes).

Step 8 - After the two minutes have finished, you can release the plates and gather your sweet, freshly pressed rosin!

Tip: This process only uses heat and pressure to produce the final concentrate.

The Hash (Ice Water Hash) Pressing Process

Pressing hash into rosin is very similar to pressing flower.

Step 1 - Warm up your rosin press plates. For a hash extraction, we use a temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2 - Load your hash into a 37 micron filter bag.

Step 3 - Cover you plates with parchment paper.

Step 4 - Load your hash filled bag into the prewarmed plates.

Step 5 - Prepress. Begin applying pressure. Only press until the bundle starts to compress. Once this happens, stop pressing and let some heat soak into the bundle (about 30 seconds).

Step 6 - Gradually start to apply more pressure over the next 130 seconds (1.5 minutes).

Step 7 - After the two minutes has finished, you can release the plates and gather your sweet, freshly pressed rosin!

Tip: Your hash may separate in the pressing process. Some ice water hash will be rosin and some will retain it's hash like consistency.

Benefits of live hash rosin vs other concentrates

Live hash rosin has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its unique production process and many benefits. Live hash rosin offers the user an experience that is much different than other concentrates, making it an attractive option for cannabis consumers.

Solventless Extraction

One of the biggest benefits of live hash rosin is that it is produced through a process known as solventless extraction. This means that no chemicals or solvents are used in the production process, making it a much purer and cleaner concentrate than other forms of cannabis extracts.

In contrast, Butane Hash Oil (BHO) is a solvent based extraction process that does use chemicals to extract the cannabinoids.

Terpene Preservation

The terpenes in live rosin are preserved during the production process. What this means is that your going to get that unique and delicious flavor profile. This makes live hash rosin much more enjoyable than other concentrates that may have lost their aromatic compounds due to the extraction process.

Highly Potent

Live hash rosin is known for its high potency and purity. The concentrate has been tested to have up to 90% THC levels, making it one of the strongest cannabis extracts available on the market.

Healthier for your lungs

Using live hash rosin is much healthier for your lungs than smoking flower or vaping. Since no solvents are used in the production process, there’s no risk of residual toxins entering your lungs and causing potential harm.

The rosin, sometimes called Wax, vaporizes when touch with a dab straw. The vapor is very clean and there are no harmful byproducts when you vaporize rosin.

Different ways of consuming live rosin

Live hash rosin is a highly versatile form of cannabis concentrate and can be consumed in a variety of ways. The most popular way to enjoy live rosin is through dabbing, which is the process of inhaling the vapor produced when the concentrate comes into contact with a heated surface.

Here are some other methods:

Vape pens

Vape pens are a decent way to consume cannabis concentrates. Make sure the vape pen that you purchase has the ability to smoke concentrates.

Tip: The Firefly 2 Vaporizer can vape dry herb and concentrates.

Dab Rigs

A dab rig is smoking pipe that uses water to cool down the smoke. Dab rigs are made from borosilicate glass so they can handle high heat applications. The rigs come with a "nail" or "banger," usually made out of quartz. To dab you heat the nail or banger with a butane torch and then dab the concentrate onto the hot surface. The concentrate becomes vapor and you inhale the vapor through your mouthpiece.

Dab rigs give you an amazing flavor and gentle smoke due to the water filtration.

Tip: Use a carb cap to get more vaporization out of your hit.

Dab Straws

Dab straws are great for people who are on a bugdet. The way you use a dab straw is by heating up the end of the straw. Dab straws are made from borosilicate glass so they can withstand being heated with a butane torch. You don't want the glass to glow orange. If it starts to glow and turn orange, turn off your torch and wait for the glow to fade, then gently touch the hot end of the straw to your concentrate and breath in that sweet vapor.

Dab straws give you a flavorful hit without having to invest in an expensive dab rig.

Desktop Vaporizers

Desktop vaporizers are a great way to get the most out of your live hash rosin. These types of vaporizers usually come with a whip, which is a tube that connects to your vaporizer and allows you to pull the vapor out. You need concentrate pads which are like small metal sponges that you put your concentrate on to vaporize it.

Let your vaporizer heat up first before you put your dab in it.

Summary

Live hash rosin is quickly becoming a popular cannabis concentrate due to its high potency and purity, as well as the fact that it preserves terpenes for a unique flavor profile. Additionally, this form of concentrate is much healthier for your lungs since no solvents are used in production. Live rosin can be consumed several ways including dabbing rigs or straws, vape pens, and desktop vaporizers.

It’s important to take safety precautions when using live hash rosin with butane torches or other heating devices and store the product properly at room temperature away from heat sources. Finally, there may be potential medical benefits associated with consuming live hash rosin such as reducing inflammation. All these factors make live hash rosin an attractive option amongst cannabis consumers looking for a strong experience without compromising on flavor or safety concerns.
